I am in the process of reading Killing Monsters: Why Children NEED Fantasy, Super Heroes, and Make-Believe Violence and I am enjoying it quite a bit (though I am only to the third chapter right now). Basically it talks about how some of the studies that were done in the sixties and seventies, which shaped the 'fear of violent media' culture of today, are flawed, and that it really can be good for children to have an opportunity to watch, read, or play with certain things.
Of course, I was already disinclined to believe that violent media causes violence (sounds like Blame Canada to me), so I am probably biased. Also, my wife an I don't currently have any kids, so I don't have any real life experience (except, you know, actually being a kid a while back).
If you want to look in to this book more, feel free to use the amazon link on my home page (or, use the gift card one if you just want to get a gift card), huzzah for kickbacks.
On the second adventure, The Slavers, I am now half way through the writing and coding. All of the maps are done, and the encounters and storyline are finished, so it shouldn't be long now.
Also, Legend of the Seeker comes back tonight, yay! New episodes for the next four weeks. Tonight, we meet Denna.
